Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 31, 2026
This policy explains what Swap Funds collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is maintained by the Swap Funds team and is written for members who borrow, lend, or both.
1. Information we collect
Account information — display name, email, phone, city and optional bio you add to your profile.
Lending activity — loan requests, funded loans, repayments, fees, tips, late assessments, disputes and collection actions.
Payment methods — the payment instruments you add to your wallet. We store descriptive details (type, nickname, last digits) rather than full instrument numbers.
Membership — your plan tier and renewal dates.
Technical data — sign-in events and basic device/session data needed to keep your account secure.
2. How we use your information
To operate the marketplace and any circles you join: publishing your open requests to the marketplace, matching you with peers, processing repayments, applying grace periods and penalties, and handling disputes.
To calculate your trust score and borrowing limit from your repayment history, and to show risk signals to lenders considering your request.
To provide membership benefits, support, security monitoring, and fraud prevention.
3. What other members can see
Lenders browsing the marketplace see a limited public profile: display name, city, bio, trust score, repaid/late counts and plan tier — plus the terms of your open request.
Contact details, payment methods, borrowing limits and bureau settings are never shown to other members. Once a loan is funded, the lender can see its repayment status, penalties and any dispute you raise on it.
4. Credit bureau reporting
Bureau reporting is opt-in. If you turn it on, we build a tradeline from your loan history and submit it monthly through our furnishing aggregator to the participating consumer reporting agencies.
Reported data may include account status, balance, high credit, payment history and delinquency. On-time repayment can help your file; late payments and defaults can hurt it.
You can withdraw consent at any time from the Reporting page. Withdrawal stops future submissions; it does not erase data already furnished. You can dispute the accuracy of anything we report and we will investigate under the FCRA timelines and report the outcome back to the bureaus.
5. Sharing
We share information with service providers who make the platform work — hosting and database infrastructure, payment processing, and our credit furnishing aggregator — under contracts limiting their use of it.
We may disclose information where required by law, to enforce our terms, to collect on a defaulted loan, or to protect members from fraud or harm. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Security
Access to your data is enforced at the database level: rows are restricted to their owner, sensitive profile fields cannot be edited from the client, and staff-only operations require an explicit role. Traffic is encrypted in transit.
No system is perfect — use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if something looks wrong.
7. Retention
We keep lending records for as long as needed to service the loan, resolve disputes, meet reporting and recordkeeping obligations, and enforce agreements. Profile data is kept while your account is active.
8. Your choices
You can edit your profile, manage payment methods, change or cancel your membership, and turn bureau reporting on or off from inside the app. You can request a copy or deletion of your account data by contacting us; obligations tied to open loans or furnished tradelines may limit deletion.
9. Children
Swap Funds is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
10. Changes and contact
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Questions or requests: connect@swapfunds.org.
